Three Little Pigs – The Hampshire Hogs

Graphic Design The Three Little Pigs
Last year the Web Chic Boutique designed and created some graphics for the www.thehampshirehogs.co.uk website, creating some hog characters : Gardener Hog, Painter Hog and Van Driver Hog together with the design and creation of a banner for their newly launched Hampshire services website.

New Girl Hogs

We have now created “Three new Little Pigs” for the site and remade their website banner / logo to include the new hogs. The brief from Denise at Hampshire Hogs was to design and create three more new characters : Baker Hog, Admin Hog and Accounts Hog to compliment the existing hogs for the additional services now offered on their site.

Unique Graphics

By adding some unique graphics to your website you can “Stand Out From the Crowd”. At The Web Chic Boutique we understand that many people want to make their own websites but rather than use a template for your banner or promotional graphics why not get in touch and see how we can help you turn your website into something special. Graphic Design For Network Members :: Posted by: Hazel on January 29th, 2010

Design : Members Badge Graphic Mums Like You

Mums Like You Members Badge IconWe have been pleased to work with Iveta of the “Mums Like You” online Network.

Following the brief we have worked closely with Iveta to produce a set of members badges for use by the networks ever growing membership on their own blogs and websites as a icon showing membership of www.mumslikeyou.com.

Design Brief

The brief was to design a graphic that included the networks logo wording thus keeping continuity with the website together with the birds provided by Iveta. We designed this graphic by continuing the theme of the bird image by incorporating the stitching as the border to the badge and made flower petals to highlight the pink bird’s patterned design.

The graphics can be seen online at the Network www.mumslikeyou.com/badge.php and on members sites across the web.

Do You Twitter? Why we Twitter :: Posted by: Hazel on January 6th, 2010

Do you Twitter?

Social media is very much in the news and in many peoples lives, facebook, linkedin, myspace and of course twitter, and even if you don’t use social media the chances are you know someone who does, or you have seen the logos of these networks online, on tv or on your mobile phone.

Adrian and I have been on Linkedin for a few years and have been involved with, and post in forums relevant to our business and interests in web development, online accessibility etc for many years now. We hadn’t ventured into these other areas until earlier in 2009 when I started to Twitter, at first it was to experience this new media everyone seemed to be talking about online and to promote our new business venture launched in May 2009 “The Web Chic Boutique” www.webchicboutique.co.uk hence my twitter name @webchicboutique, now I’m hooked and twitter most days.

Twitter – what is it?

Well twitter it would appear is many things to many people! Essentially it is a mini message board / blog, you can post a message up to 140 characters and it is then displayed on twitter. You follow other people who post and other people follow you, but your posts can be viewed by anyone, weather they twitter or not, so caution on what you post is a must.

There are many articles online about how to set up yourself on twitter, the etiquette and meaning of the abbreviations so I won’t explain all the details at the moment (maybe that’s for another article) needless to say some knowledge is good as it makes it more fun. You can even customise the background to co-ordinate with your website or blog (or we can design one for you).

Twitter seems to be moving fast, Continue reading Do You Twitter? Why we Twitter

Website logo banner redesign :: Posted by: Hazel on October 27th, 2009

Redesign – A New Look @ Breakofday.co.uk

screen shot of breakofday.co.uk

We have been working on a redesign at breakofday.co.uk and given the top banner a brand new look, together with tiding up the pages and adding new images and content.

Now there’s some Sunshine!

In the past we have avoided going for the obvious and have a Break Of Day / Sunrise type scheme or design but things change, and we have decided to incorporate a slight call to this by having a sun style element to the new banner and icons and when Adrian came up with the laptop image which he draw / designed we knew it was just perfect for the new banner – we think this works! but as designers we are always coming up with new ideas so the look may be tweaked more yet!

I (Hazel) find designing for our own business one of the hardest things, I am my own worst critic. I am happy with the new look, it keeps some of the branding such as colours and fonts which we use offline, in our business stationary etc, but also brings a new edge to the site design which we feel was needed at this time.
