Adrian and Hazel have been web designers and developers for many years. Hazel’s first commercial site for a local specialist car dealer went live in 1998 and since this time has built and created a variety of websites for many business and organisations sectors.

Adrian developed his website development skills and was the founder of Independent Testers an organisation testing websites for usability and accessibility, the organisation tested over 200 websites with panels of testers across the globe, Adrian managed the organisation and tested every site himself.

We started working together in 2005 when were asked to collaborate on a project for the Open University Student Association for our local branch, and create the first regional branch website in Essex …. The rest as they say is history!

Having developed our skills and knowledge over the years we currently build and create bespoke, yet affordable websites online at www.breakofday.co.uk.

The Web Chic Boutique is our online graphics department store.

In 2009 we launched a new web site www.webchicboutique.co.uk a new division of our business. The “Web Chic Boutique” supplies graphics and website design concepts to both new website owners and people who want to refresh the look of their website.

The aim of this business is to help people who have built their own website, perhaps using an online site builder or content management system but want to add some custom graphics and professional touches to their website.

We provide all the graphics needed such as personalised banners, buttons, adverts and promotional graphics, for clients to add to their websites and create that WOW factor.

The graphics used on our websites, from the laptop in breakofday.co.uk‘s banner to the shop front at the Web Chic Boutique, and the beach huts and deckchairs of this blog to the paint brushes, tools and diagrams on the propertydecorating.co.uk website and blog have all been designed and created in house by us, Adrian and Hazel Rayfield.

Propertydecorating.co.uk is the website of our painting and decorating business based in Southend on Sea, which we work at on a daily basis, decorating the homes and businesses of property in our local area.

The propertydecorating.co.uk website was designed and created by Adrian and Hazel and has since it’s launch over three years ago been developed by Adrian and grown into a resource used by people across the country. The site has details of our decorating business and how to contact us if you would your decorating done, but it also has a lot more!

Propertydecorating.co.uk resources and blog:

The resources on the website range from a range of tools to calculate the materials needed for a job, these include : wallpaper and ceiling wallpaper calculators, a paint coverage calculator and tile calculator, to wallpaper symbols explained, not to mention Adrian’s blog!

The Property Decorating Blog has to date over 50 articles and posts including a range of tips and tricks of the trade articles, from “how to paint a panel door“ to “dealing with cracks” to “which order to paint out an interior room” and much much more.

Adrian developed his web skills and knowledge of the PHP coding language in order to create the sites calculator resources and forms throughout the site.

The site has grown from strength to strength and has attracted a lot of attention, recently featuring in an Interior Designers, Françoise Murat’s newsletter and her guest blog with Sarah Beenys Teplio website where Françoise guest blogs about ‘A British approach to decoration: Wallpapers‘

The site has also attracted the attention of advertisers and currently features adverts for Homebase and Designer Radiators on the wallpaper calculator pages and Go Compare, Right Move, Endsleigh, Zoopla and Just Landlords on the site and blog.

How we use our portfolio of skills

Our varied skills have helped us build and expand our businesses, our web design lead us into graphic design, allowing our artistic skills to evolve and develop. Our web design and development skills have helped us make our decorating website work very well for us, it advertises our business to our target market, we get enquiries, estimate requests and work from it. It is also a resource from which we get other rewards.
