Graphic Design For Wedding Stationary and Party Invitations
I have been working recently with Alison who owns and runs a sucessful Handmade Card business “Little Gems Handmade Cards” www.littlegemscards.co.uk to design graphics for their 2010 new range of invitations.
Graphic designs created into fantastic Invitations and Wedding Stationary
The brief included me digitally drawing and designing a range of graphics from a formula one car to a pasiley pattern for a wedding stationary range, plus champagne glasses, motorbikes and a great birthday invitation with a little girl and a cupcake. I have had great fun designing the cards and they are all available to order online at Little Gems Handmade Cards. Many of the cards can be personalised and all invitations come with printed inserts as per the clients requirements.

Website updated
As well as me being involved with designing the graphics for the new range at Little Gems, Adrian and I have worked on the website and have now created 14 new pages and updated the wedding and invitation sections on the site.

Graphic Design For Network Members :: Posted by: Hazel on January 29th, 2010
Design : Members Badge Graphic Mums Like You
We have been pleased to work with Iveta of the “Mums Like You” online Network.
Following the brief we have worked closely with Iveta to produce a set of members badges for use by the networks ever growing membership on their own blogs and websites as a icon showing membership of www.mumslikeyou.com.
Design Brief
The brief was to design a graphic that included the networks logo wording thus keeping continuity with the website together with the birds provided by Iveta. We designed this graphic by continuing the theme of the bird image by incorporating the stitching as the border to the badge and made flower petals to highlight the pink bird’s patterned design.
The graphics can be seen online at the Network www.mumslikeyou.com/badge.php and on members sites across the web.

Website Content is key – Make a list! :: Posted by: Hazel on January 22nd, 2010
Content Is Key – Make A List!
Having a great looking website in itself might be nice but the content of your website is the key to both how search engines list your site, and how your visitors use your site – and ultimately use your services or buy your products.
Many elements make for good content, such as how the pages are set out, consistency of layout, your actual text copy, headings, images, alt tags, links, title tags, meta data, valid code etc etc….. it’s a long list!
So what about lists?
A list can look good on a page, it can attract the visitors eye and allows the use of good key words without having to make long sentences and paragraphs that visitors rarely read. Plus coded correctly search engine robots see the lists too.
If you are coding your list in HTML you can choose from an unordered list with a standard bullet (or use your css to style this with an image), an ordered list which has a number or a definition list which is a list which includes a description (like a list within a list).
Example 1 - An unordered list which has been styled using the css could look like this:
Our Services
- Web site Design and Development
- Graphic Design
- Internet Consultancy
Example 2 – An ordered list could look like this :
Top Best Sellers at Little Gems Handmade Cards
- Valentines Day Card – Hearts
- Mothers Day Card – Pansy
- Art Deco Party Invitations
Simple – make your content stand out – Make a List!
See how the eye is drawn to the content – on a page with blocks and paragraphs of text this is what I would read – wouldn’t you?

Valentine Day Cards :: Posted by: Hazel on January 11th, 2010
Designing Valentine Graphics for Handmade Cards
I have been working with Alison at Little Gems Handmade Cards to produce some graphics and designs for their 2010 range of Valentine’s day cards.
Alison has admired my flower designs in the past and asked me to produce some designs for the sites new range of cards.
I have designed the cards and digitally drawn red roses and rose buds, plus lots of hearts to come up with the designs which include both classic and contemporary themes.
The cards each have a layered element with a part of the design decoupage to give a 3D effect, it has been a great experience developing a range of card designs in this way for a retail outlet. The graphics are designed for print at 300dpi which gives a high quality finish to show off the detail, then produced in pdf format for Alison to print create the handmade cards.

Incorporating New Designs into an Established Range
The hearts design for example uses the same font that is used on the Little Gems Handmade Cards Wedding Party Card range to keep continuity and the wording “Will You Be My Valentine” in the same style as the sites “Will you be my Bridesmaid” range, thus making the new design card fit in as part of the sites unique range.
Buy Online at Little Gems Handmade Cards
It has been great fun designing the cards and graphics and Alison has created beautiful cards with them which can be purchased online on the Little Gems Handmade Cards website www.littlegems-cards.co.uk/seasonal.html
